Currently, newly imported sandalwood logs are all round and full, harvested
before the required aging, cracking, and purification stages...
They are beautiful carving materials, but the sandalwood will crack after a while and
begin the aging process, resulting in a more acidic aroma!

In my experience, using an electric incense burner at the 9 o'clock position:
the familiar sandalwood scent is sweet with
a subtle acidity .
The middle note transitions to a frankincense aroma, and
the base becomes sweet with a slight coolness.
