This project is a newly built residential apartment, well-preserved and untouched, with all environmental facilities in excellent condition. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows bring in abundant natural light, allowing sunlight to effortlessly flood the interior. The bright and open layout of the public area allows for flexible design and arrangement, offering a comfortable visual experience that brings people back to the pure essence of everyday living.
The homeowners, a retired couple who have moved on from a hectic lifestyle, purchased this new residence to live peacefully with their daughter. Storage was a key concern for them, yet they still wished for a clean and organized interior. In response, the designer employed simple, clean lines and layered white tones to a sense of purity. Storage was subtly integrated into the design, made invisible through vertical partitions and sequential spatial layering. Natural sunlight further enhances the textures and tones, gently warming the entire environment. The ever-changing rhythm of daily life is embraced through a black-and-white tonal foundation that accommodates the full spectrum of lived experience.
The overall space is anchored by a calm grey-and-white color scheme, paired with a minimalist aesthetic and highlighted with Silver Fox marble to introduce subtle yet captivating details. The living and dining areas adopt an open-plan layout, integrating functions and circulation within the public zone. Clean lines, natural stone textures, and black iron accents are carefully balanced to achieve a sense of understated elegance. This restrained yet intentional approach introduces depth and dimension, lending character to the space. Through the use of refined lines and a quiet visual language, the atmosphere exudes stillness, allowing for a slow-living pace that calms the spirit and invites reflection.
Zoning is defined by variations in flooring materials. The entrance features black Italian tiles and a screen partition that softens the view, creating a sense of mystery and subtly revealing the space within. Light-toned wooden flooring extends throughout both public and private areas, visually unifying the space. Unlike the communal areas, the hallway gradually introduces warm wood tones leading into the bedroom. A Japanese-style tatami room, wrapped in natural wood, provides a private and cozy retreat. Accent walls in grayscale or deep, mysterious blues further express the personal style of the residents, adding depth to the tranquil private areas.
In the public zone, built-in storage cabinets are finished in white lacquer, with vertical line divisions that pair elegantly with Silver Fox marble and matte black ironwork. These simple yet deliberate elements outline the contours of the space, while a series of integrated volumes a progressive, layered experience. Wood grain and iron add dimensional interplay, set against a muted, light-toned base that enhances the spatial atmosphere with a refined sense of taste.
Daylight streams through the large windows, requiring only evenly distributed artificial lighting to supplement the space. The interplay between natural and ambient light enhances the overall harmony. Furniture and lighting fixtures are thoughtfully selected as standout pieces, adding unique character and detail to an otherwise minimalist environment.
