Why can't I light sandalwood powder or agarwood powder?
Many friends have asked me:
"I don't know if it's the sandalwood powder that's bad or if it's stuck... why can't the powder light or burn completely?"
I've found that quite a few people don't know how to light the powder, so I hope to discuss this with everyone here.
Aside from other substances added to the powder that make it difficult to ignite, the main reasons are:
1. Many incense burners are cleaned too thoroughly, leaving some residual ash for insulation!
2. The incense burner is damp.
3. The incense burner has no vents (poor design) or the vents are blocked by cooking fumes, preventing air from flowing into the burner and causing it to go out.
3. A small amount of powder or incense may be damp. (Improper placement of the powder may cause moisture to seep in.)
We use incense burners made of metal (gold, silver, copper, iron, tin, etc.) or clay. Because agarwood and sandalwood powders contain oil,
they are difficult to burn. If the incense burner is used for heat dissipation... of course, it won't light.
We tested with natural Indonesian sandalwood powder.

There was ash on the left side, but not on the right. The left side was
almost burned out, while the right side had a lot of unburned powder at the bottom.
