Incense studies is about smelling many things.

. I've been quite busy lately and haven't shared my experiences with you all for a while. Please forgive me.
Many friends have asked: How to distinguish between good and bad incense?... How to know or distinguish the scent of agarwood and sandalwood?... How to know if it's pure?... How to know the origin of incense?... What are the characteristics of the scent produced in a particular region?... How does the aroma perform?

I will try my best to explain the ins and outs, CNS testing, research, and evaluation of the scent, and then write it down to clarify these questions.
Agarwood enthusiasts are diligently searching for knowledge related to scent, hoping to find methods for distinguishing the scent or color of agarwood and sandalwood from certain producing areas.
The above is all knowledge. However,
knowledge alone cannot completely identify agarwood and sandalwood.
To be clear: Scent—it must be smelled.
Taste is a manifestation of olfactory ability. We can easily distinguish
the smells of various objects:
"Oh, this is an apple,"
"This is a lemon,"
"This is a guava." But professional vendors can differentiate the origins of a single fruit: "This is a Japanese apple." "That's American-grown coffee! " Why? Because they smell it constantly, year after year... Unlike us, fruit vendors can smell subtle differences in aroma . I've studied agarwood and sandalwood from various producing regions; I can roughly distinguish the aromas and fragrances of countries like Vietnam and Indonesian agarwood. Then, I can differentiate the subtle differences in aroma between different distribution centers. These subtle differences are the result of experience, accumulated over many years. These scents are like codes, deeply imprinted in my mind . When encountering agarwood or sandalwood where the appearance is difficult to distinguish from the real thing, the code must be used! It can't be obtained overnight. Sometimes agarwood enthusiasts ask: How do you know if it's real or fake? I try my best to tell them. But these codes... are truly beyond words.
