Experiment on Buddhist beads after polishing
Many people seek agarwood prayer beads with a glossy, oily appearance. However, did you know that the oil lines and luster on many commercially available prayer beads are artificially created,
not naturally occurring? The methods are numerous. Fortunately, a seasoned agarwood enthusiast conducted the following experiment!
Using raw agarwood from Malaysia as a benchmark, the above-mentioned beads, after only minor processing, had their original non-black oil lines and luster altered,
but importantly, the appearance remained unmistakably natural agarwood. If white wax oil and liquid lead were added to the center of the beads to make them sink in water…
their value could potentially increase several times over!
